Chapter 1: who gave you permission to be here?

Something got you here. trust that thing

We’ve all been born with desire, the drive that leads us to everything that is meant for us. Service, relationship, abundance, life itself.

God gives us the desire of our heart.

I live by this mantra, and so should you. Our desires lead us to our teachers, our experiences, our friends, our lessons. They lead us to treasure.

God planted that desire in your heart. So whether you are new to Jesus or you are deconstructing your own religious history, I encourage you to trust God as your Master Teacher. Not a “church”, not a pastor or priest, not a well-meaning friend.

God gave you permission to know the I AM.

If you are new to Jesus especially, I encourage you to bathe yourself in Jesus’s teachings. (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). Do this with devotion. Do this with the intention to learn the character of Jesus. To learn what was important to him. What did he teach? What didn’t he teach? What did he focus on? What didn’t he focus on?

When you run across something that touches you, resonates with you, stop reading. Take the time to contemplate it. Let your body, your heart digest it. Different scriptures resonate with us at different junctures in our lives. The most important words of Jesus, are the ones that touch you, not your pastor, not your friend… YOU. That is your entry point. Those are your doors to walk through.

The scriptures you are drawn to are the ones you are ready for, the ones you are able to receive with your heart without a mind analysis. Mind analysis does not produce fruit, it produces intellectual ego.

This is also a way for you to be able to begin to discern when someone is teaching something that you know does not reflect who Jesus was.
