Lesson 2: dead ends to god: spiritual ego and intellectual pursuit.

unpopular opinion: Anything that does not move your heart, is a dead end to god.

this includes theology and doctrine.

If you are involved in Christian culture long enough, you will become highly familiar with what I call the “monopoly of truth”. This is when a “church”, a denomination, a group of people declare that they have the answer and this becomes a creed. Every subsequent denomination beleives it has reformed the former mainstream system of beleif. It is always a reaction to a perception of some sort of overemphasis or underemphasis on a set of scriptures. Or there is a claim of new revelation altogeter.

Any spiritual truth that is worth knowing can be tested. Jesus spoke such that a child could understand him. You didn’t have to have a Master’s of Divinity because it wasn’t necessary to understand the doctrine of the trinity in order to be saved.

If you hold to my teachings than you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Salvation was a simple as holding to Jesus’s teachings. In other words: humility, trust, and movement.

Theology and Doctrine are fine pursuits for intellectual stimulation, but they don’t do much more than distract from the teachings of Jesus and create disunion between people who should be recognizable by their harmony.

You will know them by their love for one another.
